Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of a new thermal power station in Madhya Pradesh to bolster industrial development and cater to the growing energy demands of the state. This initiative follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's approval for coal allocation, enabling the generation of 4100 MW of electricity.
Dr. Yadav expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister, highlighting that the coal allocation marks a critical milestone in the state’s journey towards self-reliance in energy production.
“Electricity is the backbone of development. With this opportunity, Madhya Pradesh can now establish its own power plants, ensuring uninterrupted energy for industrial and economic growth,” said Dr. Yadav.
Coal Allocation: A Game-Changer for Energy Security
The Chief Minister emphasized that although Madhya Pradesh currently enjoys a surplus in electricity production, the rapid industrial expansion necessitates enhanced capacity. The new thermal power stations, supported by the approved coal allocation, will act as a lifeline to meet the surging energy demand.
Dr. Yadav assured that the government would actively encourage private and public sector entrepreneurs to participate in setting up the new power plants. Simultaneously, he underscored the state’s commitment to advancing renewable energy, balancing sustainable and conventional energy sources.
Rs. 25,000 Crore Investment and Job Creation
Energy Minister Shri Pradhuman Singh Tomar shared that the Government of India’s high-level inter-departmental committee approved the coal allocation on November 27. The energy department will soon float tenders for establishing the power plants, which are expected to attract an investment of approximately Rs. 25,000 crore.
This massive investment will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, fostering economic growth. The new thermal power plants will ensure the availability of affordable, reliable energy for industries, households, and agriculture, cementing Madhya Pradesh’s position as an energy-secure state.
“The state is not just meeting its current energy needs but is also preparing for the future by strategically investing in infrastructure and resources. This initiative will serve as a cornerstone for industrial development and energy self-sufficiency,” added Shri Tomar.
Balancing Growth and Sustainability
While advancing conventional energy projects, Madhya Pradesh continues to expand its footprint in renewable energy. The dual approach of leveraging coal-based power and renewable sources reflects the state’s dedication to a balanced and sustainable energy strategy.
The upcoming thermal power station, backed by robust planning and investment, is poised to be a significant contributor to the state’s industrial resurgence and overall progress.
