Bhopal : Various crafts of Madhya Pradesh will be on display at India International Trade Fair to be held in Kolkata in December. Following instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, an initiative has been taken to provide online sales facilities to small businessmen and craftsmen associated with cottage industries.
The Cottage and Village Industries Department has started using online mediums like Amazon and Flipkart along with the development of its own portal.
In the last six months, sales of Rs 11.82 crore have been made in the state from Mriganyani Emporium as well as from organization of fairs. Small businessmen will be provided the facility to sell such products in Madhya Pradesh as well as in the country and abroad and to export them in future.
Facilities will be developed in Bhopal Haat on the lines of Delhi Haat. Arrangements will be made for the sale of various products in the weekly Mahila Haat for women traders at Bhopal Haat and other places in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, reviewing the schemes of the Cottage and Village Industries Department, recently apprised himself about the progress of setting up Unity Mall in Ujjain as a one stop market place for the promotion and sale of One District-One Product, GI Products, Handicraft Products and other local products.
Revive Sagar's Agarbatti Industry
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav believes that the Cottage and Village Industries Department should also encourage bamboo producers and encourage cottage industries like Agarbatti (incense stick) making. Some districts of the state including Sagar have been major centres of Agarbatti manufacturing.
CM Dr. Yadav said that the cottage industry should be revived by ensuring the availability of bamboo. In districts where bamboo production is low, instructions have been given for dense plantation of bamboo on the banks of rivers.
This plantation will help in preventing water erosion. Along with this, bamboo production will also be very beneficial.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has also given instructions to make efforts for quick resolution of cases at the bank level to provide maximum benefit of loan and grant schemes to small businessmen for upgrading their business.
