New Delhi : Khushbu Sundar news: Actress -turned politician Khushbu Sundar, who is known for her work in the South Indian film industry after initial roles in Bollywood, has joined the Bharatiya Janta Party, hours after she left the Indian National Congress. She took off for Delhi on Sunday, triggering speculations that she will be joining the saffron party ahead of the crucial polls in Tamil Nadu slated for next year.
As the anticipation of Sundar’s flip rose earlier in the day, the Congress party on Monday morning dropped Khushbu Sundar as party spokesperson, further confirming that she was all set to leave the grand old party.
How will BJP benefit after Sundar’s joining?
With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coming eighth in terms of votes in Tamil Nadu in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, it has a long way to go to establish itself in the state. Eyeing the crucial polls of 2021 , the BJP may rope her in for the assembly elections to break new ground in Tamil Nadu, as leaders believe she can play a pivotal role in changing the perception of the party.
Who is Khushbu Sundar?
Khushbu Sundar, an Actress –turned-politician who enjoys a good popularity in South, has been with Congress close to six years since the year 2014. However after the phenomenal rout of the party in Lok Sabha elections, her political career graph also remained unsteady.
Khushbu was born into a Muslim family in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She married film actor, director and producer Sundar C in 2000. In the year 2018, she took on BJP as she changed her name on Twitter to “khushbusundar..and it's NAKHAT KHAN for the BJP..”
Khushbu Sundar is an Indian film actress, producer and television presenter who has acted in more than 200 movies. She is predominantly known for her work in the South Indian film industry and has won several awards including prestigious Kalaimamani by the Tamilnadu Govt.
She was an AICC member and the National Spokesperson of the Congress.
During her peak, Khushbu was the leading actress of Tamil cinema. She became the first and only Indian actress for whom her fans built a dedicated temple.
In Bollywood, she gained popularity after she performed with Javed Jaffrey in the super-hit song "Bol Baby Bol, Rock'n Roll".She played her first main lead in Jaanoo (1985), opposite Jackie Shroff. She also starred in Tan-Badan (1986), opposite Govinda, which was the first lead role for Govinda.
Khushbu also played a significant supporting role in Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin, which also starred Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit
After that, she has mostly been working in South Indian film industries,and has acted in more than 150 films after moving to the South. She has shared screen with the likes of Rajnikanth , Kamal Hassan and Chiranjeevi.
