Shimla,14/December/2017(ITNN)>>> The countdown has started for the result of Himachal Pradesh assembly elections when counting of votes will take place on December 18. Ahead of the poll result, both BJP and Congress are going to hold meetings with their respective candidates to chalk out their post result strategy. While the BJP will hold a meeting in Bilaspur on Thursday,the Congress will hold one in Arki on Friday.
Besides candidates,senior leaders of the party would also remain present in these meetings. Sources in the BJP said that the meeting would start at 11 am on Thursday in Bilaspur and senior leaders,including party s chief ministerial face Prem Kumar Dhumal,state president Satpal Singh Satti, Union minister J P Nadda,Kangra MP Shanta Kumar, Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur,along with others,would remain present. On the other hand,Congress sources said that the Arki meeting would be chaired by chief minister Virbhadra Singh and in it post election result strategy would be discussed.
Meanwhile,chief electoral officer Pushpendra Rajput has reviewed arrangements for counting of votes on December 18 in the state with all district election officers through video conferencing. He asked the DEOs to ensure that all arrangements are in place for counting by December 15 and also to implement the guidelines of the commission. He said that quick response code reader to be used in postal ballot counting had been provided.
Containers for counting of VVPAT slips had also been procured and supplied to all returning officers. He said that mobile phones beyond the second cordon of security would be prohibited in the counting areas. Media centres would also be set up in all counting centres. Deputy election commissioner Sandeep Saxena also reviewed counting arrangements with the chief electoral officer,DEOs and returning officers.
