CM Virbhadra Singh dedicates projects worth Rs. 120 crore in Shimla Rural

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh performed foundation stones and inaugurations worth rupees 120 crore on his one day visit to  Shimla Rural Assembly Segment today. He performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Health Sub Centre at Bamot in Sub-Tehsil Dhami to be constructed at a cost of rupees 24 lakh. He laid foundation stone of PHC Building at Nehra in Sub-Tehsil Dhami to cost 1.75 crore and foundation stone of additional block of Government Senior Secondary School,  Dargi to be constructed at a cost of rupees 1.75 crore.

He also inaugurated new 4.5 Kms  Nahewat-Nayaser link road at Pahal constructed at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh and newly constructed  Panchayat Bhawan building of Gram Panchayat, Pahal constructed at cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh. Besides, the Chief Minister also inaugurated Pre-Stressed Concrete bridge over Sainj rivulet at Dargi completed at a cost of Rs 1.76 crore. The bridge whose foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in December, 2013 is completed within a record period of 10 months. He also inaugurated additional block  of Primary School, Bychari to cost Rs. 5.30 Lakh and  Rs. 5.40 lakh Gram Panchayat building at Bychari. He also inaugurated additional building of Government Senior Secondary School at Bychari to cost 1.30 crore.   He however agreed in principle to open degree college near 16-Mile. He also announced to upgrade government middle school, Mandri to High school.

The Chief Minister while addressing Public meetings at Pahal and Bychari said that the Government had undertaken works worth crores in Shimla Rural segment. Listing the developments, he said that Rs. 421.66 crore were being spent by the Public Works department on construction of roads, bridges and buildings alone. He said that 35 road projects had been sanctioned costing Rs. 112 crore, Two bridges worth Rs. 4.4 crore, Buildings works worth Rs. 299 crore and the annual tarring of 54 kilometers roads by spending 6.18 crore had been done during last two years. He said that to ensure development of the area, the present Government had opened the PWD division at Dhami and the one division of PWD at Sunni was already functioning which had also been opened by him earlier. He said that the State was having five National Highways and was well connected with link roads. The Government was determined to connect every village with roads, he said.

Indian Institution of Foreign Trade, Advanced Polytechnical Institute, Judicial Academy, Campus for Dental College, and many other institution of repute were being opened in Shimla Rural Constituency. As many as 670 new development projects of various departments had been undertaken in the Shimla Rural Assembly segment  with a provision of Rs. 529 crores for the same.

The Chief Minister said that Rs 105 crore drinking water supply scheme from Sainj Nallah, whose tenders have been floated, would soon be dedicated to the people of the area there by benefitting 41 Gram Panchayats of Dhami Sub Tehsil. A modernized pre-fabricated hospital was being constructed at Sunni to cost rupees seven crore and would be completed by the end of Janauary 2015.

He exhorted the people to adopt off season vegetable cultivation and floriculture in the area and urged to construct Check-dams storing water which will no-doubt add to the economy of the people. He said that seeing the water scarcity in the area the construction of check dams becomes necessary. However, the people should not stop the traditional cultivation altogether, he said, adding they should also adopt Diary farming as an avocation which will also lead to indirect employment.

He remembered the contribution of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Dr YS Parmar in development of the State. He also remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India for co-operating with the State Government in terms of development, during his Chief Ministership.

Stressing on strengthening the health sector in the Shimla rural assembly segment, the Chief Minister said that more Health Sub Centres and Primary Health Centres would be opened in the rural areas of the constituency, rather all over the State to provide facility to the people and one male and female health worker each would be placed in Health Sub Centres.

The Chief Minister also announced up-gradation of Middle School Bamot to High School and a science block building for Government Senior Secondary School, Pahal. He also announced construction of Karechi-Tabogh road at Pahal. He said that for early completion of Katasani Cricket Stadium, the people should come forward for donating their land. He also exhorted the people and the members of PRIs to aware the people for donating land voluntarily for construction of roads and other development works.

Speaking on the occasion,  State Youth Congress President Vikramaditya Singh said that the people of the area had always supported the policies and programmes of the Congress Government. He urged the Chief Minister to get early completion of the Cricket Stadium at Katasani which would be one of the best cricket stadiums of the State with International standards. He assured to place forth the problems of people of the area and take them up forcefully with the Government. He said that more opportunities would be explored in employment sector and thanked the Chief Minister for conceding to the demand of the Youth Congress for organizing ‘Rozgar Melas’ in different areas of the State.
