Bodo militant attack : PM, Rajnath Singh to visit violence-hit Assam

Sonitpur,24/November/2014 (ITNN)>>>> Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Assam later today, in order to take stock of the situation following a brutal militant attack in the state.

An indefinite curfew has been imposed in four police station areas of Sonitpur district in Assam after Bodo militants killed 52 people  in a series of attacks across 5 locations in Assam.

Songbijit faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland(NDFB) is opposed to peace talks. Additional paramilitary personnel
were being rushed by Union Home Ministry to Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam .

"Indefinite curfew has been clamped in the areas in the jurisdiction of Dhekiajuli, Thelamara, Rangapara and Biswanath Chariali police stations," Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur district, Lalit Gogoi told .

A spokesperson of Assam Police said 30 people were gunned down in Sonitpur district. "While 24 were gunned down in Biswanath Chariali, six were killed in Dhekiajuli," he said.

A total of 37 people, including four women, were killed and 10 others injured in a series of attacks by NDFB (Songbijit) militants at four places in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam this evening.
