Varanasi to witness PM Modi-Kejriwal faceoff again this month on Ravidas Jayanti
For the first time after the Lok Sabha polls in 2014, Varanasi will again witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal 's presence on the same day. Both the leaders are schedule to visit the city on February 22 on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti. Both of them had contested the Lok Sabha polls from the constituency where PM Modi emerged as the winner.

With the upcoming assembly elections in mind,Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Friday, presented a populist UP Budget 2016-17. The Rs 3.46 lakh crore budget – a record for the state – aims to address the aspirations of all sections of the society and the regional balance. Yadav earmarked Rs 814 crore for Lucknow Metro and Rs 50 crore each for proposed metro rail in Varanasi and Kanpur.

A physically-challenged fencer died after he was allegedly pushed off a moving train by railway policemen at a station in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night, a charge the authorities denied. Journalist mother set ablaze at UP police station for refusing to bribe officers
The mother of a journalist was set ablaze on Monday at Kothi police station here allegedly by two policemen after she refused to "bribe" them to free her husband, prompting authorities to suspend the two officials and register a case against them. But the policemen have denied the charge, saying that the woman had immolated herself. The condition of Nitu Dwivedi is said to be serious as she was rushed to district hospital here and later referred to a Lucknow hospital's trauma centre.
Man killed in a accident due to dense fog in Badaun
A 40-year-old man was killed today when his tonga was hit by a bus due to dense fog in Alapur area here, police said. Sewaram and his horse died when their tonga was hit by a roadways bus this morning. Poor visibility due to dense fog was stated as the reason behind the accident, ASP Lallan Singh said.
